Best Buy cheats customers, signs them up for things they didn’t want

Best Buy employee confesses to scamming customers

For those that aren’t aware, Best Buy is currently being sued for racketeering, for signing customers up for AOL and MSN and other “offers” they said they didn’t want, either by convincing the customer that “AOL purchase is required to get the cheap eMachine” or saying “MSN comes with that router you’re buying, it’s a package deal” even if it really wasn’t.

And what of the people that just outright refused to buy into that?

They got signed up for AOL or MSN or a credit card they didn’t ask for in the first place, and then all of a sudden the bills for the American Express they never agreed to start coming in the mail.

So I don’t know how widespread this corruption is in Best Buy, but I know that other consumer electronics stores have had less than an honorable reputation in the past (Circuit City, CompUSA, etc.).

I can tell you that I will never do business with these places, they’re pretty sleazy and take advantage of people that aren’t very technically inclined and don’t know exactly what they’re agreeing to, and as said, if you do fight it, they seemingly back off then sign you up for the shit anyway.

I always do my business with Newegg, and I haven’t had a problem out of them in three years, well except that I’m always buying something else from them… but compulsive shopping is the problem here. :P
