Alright, maybe not….
But my question is, if you’re not using Adblock Plus, where have you been for the last 4 years?
If you get one Firefox extension, it should be Adblock Plus, not only will the web be more enjoyable, pages will load faster, and be cleaner than they were before, and without the buzzing mosquitos or the crap where the thing starts talking to you in the middle of you trying to read the page.
I mean guys, my heart it with the people that are trying to run a website and pay the bills but sheesh, some of these sites are more advertising than content, and some sites are even distributing computer viruses through advertisements (including in ads on big sites like Yahoo recently), so Adblock Plus is suddenly a security tool as well!
I want to try this, how do I?
Get Firefox if you aren’t using it, (It’s like Internet Explorer without the suck)
Restart Firefox and click on the “Show All Subscriptions” link and pick the best set for your country. (I use EasyList+EasyElement)
Enjoy the web, ad free, and it you do run into an ad, right click and use “Adblock Image”, it will paste in the new rule in an editor, and you can pare it down using wildcards.
Example:
http//www.goodsiteyoudontwanttoblock.com/badcrappyadvertisement
becomes
*badcrappyadvertisement*
So for the sake of all that is good and right, please use adblock, take back your sanity!
